“Disappointing night.
“You want to try and get as far as you can in these competitions. With it being a semi-final I am stating the obvious that we are disappointed.
“I am more disappointed with our demeanour in the second half.
“I thought we did not perform anywhere near our potential.
“That is especially the case in terms of passing the ball – we tried to force things and we also did not show enough urgency for me, for it being a semi-final.
“So there were loads of things that were frustrating throughout the bulk of the second half and that is more disappointing that the result in all honestly.
“I did not mind that we played in the wrong areas at times, that is not the end of the world, and I accept we have to get the ball forward, it is just how you find pockets.
“Yes pass the ball to get into different areas of the pitch but I felt the movement ahead of the ball was good enough to allow us to do that.
“You need certain situations to pan out in terms of movement to get you up the pitch. In the end we just land up kicking it long and with their experience and dominance in the centre of the pitch, it was so comfortable for them.
“The second goal is a great finish but it comes from a throw in. It is something that has been an Achilles heel for us.
“We allow the ball into feet and Garry Wood is an experienced striker and takes the ball in and you need protection in front. We do not allow that protection and then Graeme Rodger spins off and it is brilliant finish but we should deal with the situation better. And don’t.
“We had a number of 16 and 17 year olds in the side tonight.
“I think we had five U18 players in the starting XI.
“So from their point of view it is a learning process but as young as they are, I still expect better quality in terms of how we use the ball and how we move.
“And more urgency from them. We needed them to be saying this is a semi-final, can we take leadership of the game? I don’t think we had enough personalities in the game to do that.
“Bruce Anderson took a knock on his hip and came off, but I don’t think there will be any issues with that.”
