REACTION:
Emma Hunter: “It probably wasn’t the best game for the spectators to watch because at time it was a bit scrappy. Both teams were a bit tentative at time because it’s a quarter final and nobody wanted to lose it but we’re probably disappointed because I think the penalty was quite soft. In the second half I think we had a better run of the game and maybe should have created some better opportunities to get back in the game”.
“We’ve got to take so many positives as we do out of every game and there is a lot of learning and development we can take out of the game. I think we can be proud of how far we’ve come and not get too caught up in the disappointment of losing. It was such a close game and to me, it could have gone either way. I know the girls are disappointed but they should hold their heads high and be proud of the performance as well”.
“For our youngsters development especially, after a game like this it gives them a hunger to be involved in games like this and that’s where we want to be. We need to get more games like this for our individual and team development”.
Harley Hamdani: “This shows far we’ve come, when you look at some of players in the team today it’s their first experience of playing at this level, two leagues up and for others it’s been a year or so since they’ve been at that level so it took us a while to get up to speed and that took a bit longer than we would’ve liked. We can be so proud of each individual and also as a team, the manner of the goal was disappointing and the lack of clear cut chances that we created was also disappointing but we limited the opposition to chances from outside the box and that is something we can be really proud of and a penalty was the difference today”.
“It’s the start of the journey and working to get into a semi final of the Scottish Cup, considering the teams we’ve already had to play shows that we’re headed to where we want to be. We’re up against teams that have a really strong infrastructure behind them and we need to make sure that we’re catching up on that as well as what we’re doing on the pitch”.
