Derek McInnes reaction

After the match Derek McInnes gave his reaction to the media:

“I thought the wind was a bit more difficult to deal with in the first half- it was swirling about there.

“It was tough conditions out there. I was trying to say to the players that we had to try to move the ball slightly quicker and get more movement off the ball just to try and move them about a wee bit. Because the way the game was going, we knew Kilmarnock would try and turn us and try get in behind and get the ball forward quickly. We didn’t want it to be that type of game and I thought Kilmarnock caused us some problems just by doing that and I felt at times we weren’t doing enough.

“I still felt we had the best chance in the first half. Ryan Jack should score his header from 6 yards- he cracks it off the bar. So the players knew themselves there was more to come from us second half and I felt there was an onus on them to do that and I felt they did that in the second half- I thought we were excellent. Tough conditions and I thought Craig Samson’s done terrifically well to keep us out.

“It was a tight game- you think maybe a mistake or a bit of quality is going to win it and I felt the delivery at the corner and the run from Mark Reynolds- and the aggression to get on the end of it was excellent, no more than we deserved. I felt it was a tight match and I thought we did enough in terms of goal scoring opportunities to just edge it. ”
