Aberdeen Women return to action this weekend after a three week break when they travel to Lanarkshire to take on Motherwell Women. The Dons go into the game on the back of a historic victory at Pittodrie when they defeated Glasgow Women at the end of October.
Co-manager Gavin Beith spoke to RedTV to preview Sunday’s game at K Park:
“It has gone well since our last game. We have trained every night and we had a friendly with St Johnstone as well. There is a bit of positivity to try and build on the great experience we had in the Glasgow Women game at Pittodrie a couple of weeks ago. It is a bit of a pity it has taken so long to get to the next game but it has allowed us to work on some things. We are looking forward to the game, we know the size of the game and the magnitude of it. It gives us the chance to get closer to everyone else in the league. It also gives Motherwell a chance to stretch away so we are looking forward to it.
“It has maybe been a good thing as well that we have had a break since our last game, it allows everyone to re-group and get them focused. It has been a bit more relaxed the fact that there has not been games. There is always a good buzz when we train and a good buzz among the girls. There has been positives in our games this season, even the ones we have lost but now we need to go and put it all together and put in a good performance to get the three points.
“You know what Motherwell are, Paul and Leanne have got them organised and playing some really good football. They have got a good squad. Every team in the league is like that, every game we go into has been really, really difficult. We have had a good chance to look through the games and go into detail in terms of what they do. We always need to focus on ourselves, that is what we have done over the break we have had over the past two weeks. We need to make sure that we are right and we have the right focus, the right attitude and the belief that we can actually go and do it. It has not been the best of starts, I think everyone would like it to have been a lot better but it is on us to change that, no one else can change it. We know the task at hand, everyone knows what we have to do and everyone is prepared to go and do that.”
