Aberdeen Women start their post split fixtures on the road this Sunday when they travel to take on Glasgow Women. The sides have met twice this season, with the Dons running out 2-0 winners in October and were victorious by one goal to nil at the start of the year.

Academy Director Gav Levey previewed the game with RedTV. You can watch his preview in full in the video above.

“Its the start of the split and we are looking forward to it. It is a chance for us to hopefully get three points and to then pull together a string of fixtures after that. It has been a good week of training. Hopefully confidence remains high. We do feel like we have a bit of a clean slate going into the split.

“We have to almost treat these final 10 games as a mini season, we have to be judged on progress. You would rather finish the final 10 games of the season showing that you have made real progress over the course of the year. That is what is really important as we move onto the end of the season and there will be a transition to what will hopefully be a new management team coming into play then. If I am doing my job along with the staff who have been working together during this interim period, we will certainly help to finish this season on a real high. Not just collectively but individually it might give us a better idea as well what the group will look like come the end of the season.

“There are 30 points available to every team in this post split. You have always known if the other teams around you are playing one of the top teams, the likes of Glasgow City, Celtic, Rangers, it is always difficult to get something out of them. If you are able to pick up points then you can pull away from those in and around you. In this split I believe that teams can take points off of everyone else. It probably will be quite exciting. For us it is important to make sure we are getting away from that relegation play-off spot that is looming behind us at the moment.

“The only time I have seen the mood change is in games where we have had a defeat and we know we should have done better. Against Partick Thistle recently we lost a player and we ended up coming away with a 4-3 loss, where we have scored three goals away from home but have come away with no points. That was tough and as you could imagine afterwards the mood was down. Against Motherwell we played really well in the first-half but let ourselves down in the second-half. Apart from those two instances I don’t think I have seen the mood in the camp go down.

“We have trained well. We had a mixed game on Tuesday night against the U18’s. Last night’s session was up there with one of the better ones we have had in the last few months. I think everyone has got that freshness about them. We are looking forward to going in and trying to start enjoying the ball a little bit more. We have had so many games, certainly since I have been involved, where we have always had less possession. I think now is time to show what we are capable of on the ball.”

Maddie Finnie also spoke to RedTV, you can watch her preview here.
