Aberdeen Women return ‘home’ to Pittodrie this Sunday as they take on Glasgow Women in the SWPL1. It is the second time this year that Aberdeen Women have played at Pittodrie, with the last match coming against Rangers back in March. Both sides are heading into the game looking to pick up their first victory of the league season.

“Last time out we faced a Rangers team who went on to win the title and despite a great performance by us on the night, they came out on top in the end. The support we received that night was phenomenal and it would be great to see that again this afternoon. The team have the goal of being the first ever Aberdeen Women’s team to win at Pittodrie and they are all working hard to get that piece of history for themselves.
“We arrive at the match following a difficult start to our SWPL1 campaign. Despite some good performances, we haven’t got the results or to the levels that we all know we are capable of. We have a chance to put that right today and where better to kick-start our season than here at Pittodrie.
“There’s no better place to go and get our first win of the season and the players will be desperate to do just that. It won’t be an easy game as we face a Glasgow Women team who have had a similarly difficult start to their campaign.
“It would be a great help if the players could hear the fans behind them. It means a lot to myself, Gavin and the players to see the fans support the team and I’m sure the players will reward you all for coming along with a performance you can be proud of.” – Aberdeen Women co-manager Emma Hunter.

“I’m proud to lead the team out as captain and as a group, we have good memories of our last game here which was a great occasion despite the result.
“We’ve had a taste of it from last time so we know what to expect and we’re really up for the game. It was an emotional night the last time we played here and I think we were a bit taken by surprise by the response we got from the fans who came along.
“The fans were amazing that night and we were still here a few hours after the game speaking to people who came along to support. It was a real credit to those that came and stayed late on a week night to do that and we appreciated every single person that came to support us. It would be great to see more young fans coming along and hopefully the team can inspire some young girls to get into football themselves.
“We haven’t had the start to the season that we wanted but we are coming to Pittodrie today to really kick start our season.
