“It was a good response from the players and it was our biggest league victory of the season so the players deserve a lot of credit.

“There was obviously disappointment last weekend so it was important that we came out with real determination, we started the game well but the latter half of the first half was a bit scrappy.

“We made a little change at half time and I felt we were far more in control of the game, we had good pace down the sides and were comfortable in the middle of the park.

“We scored some very good goals, Pawlett’s goal is excellent in terms of the build-up and the timing of the run is excellent too then there is the calmness to apply the finish, it’s a goal that should really be applauded. Once we got the second goal we were very comfortable and it knocked the stuffing out of Ross County.

“Kenny McLean did well, he was really efficient with his work. The little change that we made at half time probably restricted him a wee bit from the role he has been asked to play this season for St Mirren. I don’t think he wasted a ball all afternoon and he still did his work against the ball working hard for the team.

“It was important to get back to winning ways, we are unbeaten in 11 league games now winning 9 of those and that is the sort of form that we strive for. “It’s always difficult as there is an opponent out there trying to stop you, you seen the resilience from Ross County today at times. The challenge every game now is to try and impose ourselves on the opposition and keep winning.

“I would rather still be in the Cups but we now have a 14 game season and it is important that we try and maximise that as much as we can. The squad is as strong as it has been all season, the two substitutes came on to score and we have got Robson and Flood sitting there ready to play their part when required.

“Donervorn going off today might have affected us previously but Joe came on and was excellent and I think he deserves credit as well.

“Everybody has played their part today and we still have Ash Taylor and Russell Anderson to come back too.

“We think Donervorn should be ok for next week, he has a spasm in his back but he should be absolutely fine.”
