Mats Knoester injury
“It wasn’t nice watching it back. Seeing him lying knocked out wasn’t pretty. He’s had his tests done, and he’ll be out for a good number of weeks.”
New recruits
“Tom (McIntyre) is an experienced centre-back who’s come from Portsmouth. He’s an ex Scotland youth internationalist, brings experience, and is left-sided, which helps us, especially with Mats injury.
“Dennis (Geiger) brings experience from the Bundesliga, he is a great signing. He hasn’t played a lot of minutes recently, but we’ll manage that.”
Managing minutes
“Yes, we have to watch the new signings minutes. Afeez has been cleared to play. We’ll have to manage them. There were also some departures yesterday, so we’re going to have to work with the squad a bit tomorrow.”
Reflecting on Kilmarnock
“It was frustrating because the week before was such a high, and then the performance against Kilmarnock was so disappointing. But the games are coming thick and fast, and it’s a massive game, live on Sky Sports, so hopefully the players are up for the challenge.”
Consistency
“Yes, consistency is the thing. We thought we were building that after the Raith Rovers and Livingston games, then it was really disappointing again. But the games are coming thick and fast — Wednesday, then Saturday — and the players have to react and get a positive result.”
Celtic preview
“We showed that today in the video, they’re strengths and weaknesses. They’re a dangerous team, but there are ways we can hurt them, and hopefully we can do that tomorrow.
“We’ve got to bring the atmosphere ourselves. We need to bring tempo and aggression and show everything that we didn’t really show at the weekend. We’ve got to bring that tomorrow night.”
