“As a player, you want to be playing football.
“You want to be playing regardless of how well the team are doing. But there have been periods during the season where the team have been doing really well. Before Wednesday night we won five games in a row so you cannot have too many grumbles if the team are winning.
“It has been tough for me because last year was the first time where I had played week in week out for a full season. To go from that to the last six months where I have not been playing regularly then it is tough. But I feel I have come back from the winter break refreshed and ready to go again. I am going to have a real crack at it to try and force my way into the side and into the manager’s plans.
“I want to do well for this football club.
“During the January transfer window we were linked with some attacking players and I was linked with a loan move but after speaking with the gaffer I have a new impetus going forward for the rest of the season. It is up to me to show him on the training pitch and also when I get on the pitch on a matchday, even if it just for a few minutes, what I can do and what I can offer the team. Then hopefully the amount of game time I get will grow.
“We have a lot of different types of strikers. Adam is a goalscorer and great in and around the six-yard box, Jayden is brilliant in the air. I am a completely different sort of player. I like to run in behind and use my pace and power.
“I believe when I am on my game that I am a nightmare to play against and I can score goals in this league. So it just a matter of having a fresh mind-set for the second half of the season.
“When you move to a new club you want to make an impression early on. At the start of the season I played the St Johnstone game and then played against Partick at home and managed to score in that game. Since then James and Wes came in, both good players and the team was doing really well. Things just did not work out for me during the first half of the campaign. That happens sometimes.
“I remember as a Wolves fan, we signed Freddy Eastwood from Southend and he was on fire at the time. But he could not get into the Wolves team so it does happen.
“I have always made myself available for the U20s because I just want to play football. There are some brilliant young players at the club such as Scott Wright and Frank Ross and I enjoyed playing with them.
“I got a chance to come on in the recent Dundee and Celtic games. In the Dundee game I was on the pitch for only eight minutes but there is a lot of intelligence in the midfield. They found my runs straight away. I felt I was unlucky against Celtic when I was away down the line and the referee has pulled it back. You never know, I might have got in there. In the two games, there were four occasions I have managed to get in behind the defence and that is what I base my game on.
“I thought we did well on Wednesday night so there are positives to take from the game despite the defeat. They had a lot of the ball but we limited the number of chances they had. It has come down to a set piece separating the teams. On another day, it could have been us that nicked it from a set play. So I don’t think we should be too down about the result.
“We always go into the games against Celtic thinking we can get something. After the game there was disappointment because it has come down to a set piece but that is football.
“The supporters are obviously aware of my situation over the last six months and have been supportive towards which I really appreciate. It does help.
“I am positive after the conversations I have had with the manager.
“It up to me now.
“The second half of the season is a new start for me. I have a fresh mind-set and since coming back from Dubai I feel I have been a lot better in training. I am trying my hardest to force my way in.
“As I say I know if I do get into the team I can offer something different.
“Ryan Christie has joined us recently. Having played with him last season I know what he is all about. Nine ten out of ten he will find you with a pass. He has a lot of quality. Hopefully we can get some game time together.”
