Nicky was the player put up to the media on Tuesday to preview the cinch Premiership fixture against Kilmarnock on Wednesday night.

“We now have a good run of home games at Pittodrie so hopefully we can start to climb the table. But we have to take advantage of that and the games in hand that we have to play.

“I think the problem this season is that we have not been able to put enough good performances in back-to-back. That is something we have to rectify this month. We are at the stage now where we have to start picking up points. We are under no illusions, the league table right now does not look great. We have been unlucky recently but we need to be coming out on the right end of results.

“It can’t always be down to bad luck as there have been times in games recently where we have conceded too many goals and are having to score two and three goals to win games. It is something we have got to eradicate quickly as we are giving teams too many opportunities and chances to score.

“I think a lot of the goals that we have conceded this season have been avoidable. At the moment, we are having to score two or three goals to win matches. We have top class players at the top end of the pitch, but that is not sustainable over a season. We have to cut out the mistakes and the individual errors.

“We have to get back to keeping clean sheets because we will always create chances in games. If we can keep clean sheets at the other end, then we are going to put a good run together.

“I think if we were playing really poorly and losing it would be much more of an issue but we feel like we are doing alright a lot of the time but are not being clinical enough in both boxes.

“At Hibs last Sunday, we stayed true to what we wanted to do and how the manager set us up. It felt that it was a matter of time before we would score but we missed quite a few chances. If we wanted any of those chances to fall to anyone it would have been Bojan, but even the very best have days when things won’t go their way.

“For me, he is the best player in his position in the league and has scored a lot of goals for us already this year, even when we have not been getting great results. If we continue to play like we did at Hibs, then we’ll be ok, but we have. To find that consistency and string some performances together. This would be a good month to do it in.”
