“It’s probably been the best week of my career so far. Just to qualify for a major tournament with Northern Ireland and to be involved in the whole occasion has been incredible. And then to get the shout that I’ve won this award just tops it all off for me.

“The last week has been crazy and it’s a bit surreal! The whole campaign so far has been an incredible journey and I don’t think it has sunk in yet. Once we get back to our club action it will sink in a bit more then. We’ve qualified for a major tournament but we can put that on the back burner and the boys can concentrate on their club football.

“I need to get back and work hard for Aberdeen. I want to stay injury free and it’s nice to have the Euro’s to look forward to and to work hard for.

“I think the international break came at a good time for us with losing the two league games and the cup game. The players have been working hard while I’ve been away and I’m looking forward to Friday now and getting back to club action.

“Ross County have been excellent this season and it’s not going to be an easy game. I think when you lose a couple of games you want to get back on the pitch as quickly as possible to work on things and the boys have been doing that. I’ve been away at the internationals and experiencing good times so my confidence is good and I feel great and ready to start working with the boys and of course looking forward to Friday night.”
