After scoring his first goal for Aberdeen, striker Miles Storey spoke to RedTV:
“I was delighted to get my first goal for the club, it was a great moment for me.
“First and foremost, it was important to get that win. We needed it. Two draws without any goals was a little disappointing so it was nice to get our first three points. We made it a little bit harder at the end than it should have been. We slacked off a bit which allowed them back into the game but I am just glad to have got the win and glad to have got off the mark personally.
“We created a lot of chances today and as the season goes on I think we will start to take more of them.
“Since I have been here, through the European fixtures, I have been taking everything in. You very quickly realise it is a massive club. I know that if I am going to play my part I need to train hard so I can get in the team. I am hopefully that if I get the opportunities I will score. Luckily today I had my chance in the middle of the goal after a great bit of hassling by Graeme Shinnie and the ball has broken to me nicely. The keeper shut off one side so I rolled it to the other one.
“Like I have said before, all the strikers at the club offer something different. There are a lot of good players who now can play in the forward positions and there are a lot of options. At a big club like Aberdeen that is what you need.
“On a personal level for me today, I think I need to get fitter. I need to get stronger. I grew into the game in the second half a bit more but I know I need to be doing more.
“At Inverness last season I played a lot of games and as the season wore on I felt fitter and stronger. The way I play, a lot of involves running in behind so that will come (as I get fitter). I am working hard with the sport science people so I know (my sharpness) it will come.
“My aim this season is first and foremost to get into the team and play games and get fit. I have not really set many targets for myself in terms of goals. I just want to get into the team and doing well on the training field. I just want to show everyone what I can do.
“We will now turn our attentions to the game next week against Celtic but before we do that we need to get in a strong week in training. From Monday we will be working towards the game and making sure we prepare properly.”
