On a difficult night in Glasgow, there was a big positive for the Dons with the return of Mats Knoester to the starting line-up for the first time this season. He was the player who spoke to the press post-match.

“I hoped for a better comeback, of course,” he said afterwards. “If I have to take the positive, it's good that my knee stayed strong for 90 minutes and I'm back playing, back doing what I want to do. But you go into the normal things straight away, and that's the feeling of disappointment after the game. But I'm happy I'm back playing, for sure.

“We have good competition for places now. If you're injured or whatever, you're not on top of your game, there's somebody else who wants to take over and that goes both ways. I think that's a healthy competition. That's the way it is. It's just the reality. Now I'm fit, I hope to get my rhythm fast and then go on from where I left off.”

Looking at the game, Knoester was disappointed with how the Dons played, particularly in the first half.

“Especially in the first half, we didn't get the right pressure on them. They pinned us down and then in crucial moments, we gave it away too easily.

“If I speak for myself, I don't think there was a lack of belief. We just make it very difficult for ourselves in crucial moments. You lose your duel, and they get a goal straight away. You do that three times, then here at Celtic it's going to be a very difficult night.

“I think what you always do after a game like this is analyse, get together. Tomorrow it's time to tell each other what needs to be better. Then we move on again because there's no point of going on with our heads down. It's very early in the season, four games, and there's a lot to play for.”
