Aberdeen Women begin their final week of the season with an away trip to face Hibernian. The Dons go into the game on the back of an impressive 4-2 victory over Partick Thistle on Tuesday night. It is one win apiece for both sides this season, with The Dons winning in February thanks to an Eva Thomson strike, while Hibs claimed the three points back in October when Colette Cavanagh scored the only goal of the game.
Co-manager Emma Hunter previewed the remaining games of the season.
“Tuesday’s game was really good and gives us confidence to take into Sunday’s game against Hibs. We have beaten Hibs this season, we know we can take points off of them. We will be looking to do that again this Sunday. We will take the good parts of our game against Partick Thistle and analyse the bits that we need to tidy up for Sunday.
“Rotation is important at this stage of the season, we have a couple of midweek fixtures coming up. To see the substitutes come on and make an impact is huge for us.
“We have got a lot to make up for against Glasgow City, we were really disappointed with our performance the last time we went down there. It is still really important that we go out and perform.
“We think that we can get points off of Hibs and it secures that fifth place for us if we do. We are aiming to get that fifth spot. We have it all to play for and if we can reach that target, for us that is massive. It was a really high target for us to set when we came into SWPL1, the first time of asking for us to go and get that fifth spot. It has been an unbelievable performance but it is not over yet so we will need to get that message across.”
Bailley Collins, who came off the bench on Tuesday to score her first goal of the season, also previewed Sunday’s game with Hibs:
“It is frustrating when you are not named in the starting XI but you have to keep your head up and know that if you get that opportunity you have to take it which I did. It was good to get my first goal of the season as well.
“Our aim for the final three games is to get as much points as we can. If we want to secure fifth place, which we do, we know that we have to put in a good shift in all three games next week. That will be our objective to get good performances and to try and get a few points on the board as well.
“We have got good quality in the squad. The players who start the game on the bench will always be keen and eager to get on and take their chance when they get it. Everyone is looking forward to this week ahead.”
