French winger Hicham Mahou has joined the Dons on a one-year contract, with a club option for a further year.

The 27-year-old joins as the Club’s 15th summer signing, having gained extensive experience across European football. Known for his direct style and pace, he adds further attacking quality to the squad. "We're delighted to bring Hicham to Aberdeen”, said Stephen Robinson. “He's a player who we believe possesses attributes that will strengthen the group and add another dimension to our attacking play. "Hicham is quick, technically gifted and comfortable in one-versus-one situations. He's also hungry to prove himself and excited by the challenge of playing for Aberdeen. While he will need time to settle into a new league and environment, we're confident he can make a strong contribution.”

Hicham made more than 120 appearances for FC Lugano, helping the Swiss side compete regularly in European competition. Prior to his move to Switzerland, he progressed through the academy system at OGC Nice and gained further experience during loan spells in France. Having left the Swiss club in the summer, the Frenchman is looking forward to his time in the North-east. He said: “It is great to be here. I have had such a good impression since the moment I arrived.

“I did my research about the Club, and I loved what I saw. The atmosphere, the fans, the facilities, it all made me very interested in coming here. "I think the Scottish league is also a good level and, for me, it is underrated. I saw that I can do something here, with the fans alongside me. "The manager was really convincing when I spoke to him. He has a great vision for the Club. We share the same ambition and our outlook on the game, and it made me very excited to be part of what is being built here. I think we can achieve something together as a team, with the fans backing us." Everyone at AFC welcomes Hicham to Pittodrie and wishes him every success during his time here.
