“I believe that if I go up to take a penalty, strike through the ball, hit the target and put it where I want to put it, whether if I miss or not I am not going to get too beat up about it, thankfully I scored two today so I am happy with it.

“I know Ryan Porteous and have played with him plenty of times with Scotland through the age groups, he was just telling me how good the keeper was at saving penalties! I just stood and listened to him, and I put my penalty right down the middle. I gave him a bit on the way back! I just said to him ‘the keeper done well there!’ It was just a bit of a banter.

“I have scored 14 goals this season, being on penalties helps that. It was something that I wanted to add to my game. After my first season I got a decent number of goals, I think it was eight and I wanted to keep bettering that. It is always good to score and to help the team out. We can’t always be relaying on Christian, we need everybody to chip in with the goals.

“A win can take you up a couple of places because of how tight the league is. We need to focus on ourselves, put the effort and the work in at training and try to get maximum points in the next two games. It is going to take that if we are going to get into the top six. Our aim going into today was to get nine points from our next three games and nothing has changed.

“It is always an honour to be called up to the national side. It is everybody’s dream to be called up. Being in amongst the squad is brilliant for me, the squad is littered with English Premiership players and players playing at the top level so I couldn’t be any prouder to be part of the group.

“The manager likes consistency and he keeps the same squad which is good. I have bedded in well in the first couple of camps, I have really enjoyed it. It has been brilliant and hopefully it can continue so I can keep being apart of the squad. It can only benefit me and if I can pick up wee things from every player that is there, then it can only help improve me as a player.”
