Craig Brown speaks to Dave on RedTV
Dave Galloway from Northsound/RedTV spoke to Craig Brown this afternoon after the players training session.
“There is still good optimism in the dressing room and on the pitch so we are optimistic about the games before the split. There has never been a depression about the place even after the disappointment of the Ross County defeat. That defeat was our first loss in four and I really believed we could have gone on a long unbeaten run like we did at the start of the season.
“I don’t want to be seen as being a moaner but we have had some bad luck. We have had a number of penalty decisions go against us, for example against Kilmarnock recently when Niall was taken down and up at Inverness when Russell was sent off. At the same time we missed two penalties on consecutive Sundays and that would have made a huge difference to our season if we had scored them.
“I can’t think of too many games where we have been lucky to get a win.
“All we can do now is concentrate on doing our very best and making sure we compete in every game. If we play to our best we will get wins. I think we need to win three of the remaining games before the split out of four. It depends on the other results of course but if we were to win three we would put ourselves into contention.
“Sometimes you get points in the most unlikely of places. Everyone says we can’t go to Celtic Park and win. The weekend we go there might be the weekend Celtic could win the league title officially. The last thing we want to do is let them win the title when Aberdeen are the visitors.
“The players don’t try not to play well. I don’t try to make the wrong substitutions. We all do our very very best as we all love Aberdeen Football Club like the fans do.
“Fans who pay their money are entitled to be critical. The general good will though to the club within the city is exceptional and I would just ask the fans to continue that support in the remaining games.
“The latest team news is that Joe Shaughnessy had a broken nose but he should be fit for the game on Saturday.”
