“If you are going to get any success or strive to have any success you need to keep your best players and then add players. It was very important therefore that we signed Niall and everyone is absolutely delighted we have managed to secure his services.

“We also have to try to introduce some of our very exciting young players who are going to help us build as a football club.

“Although it is the summer the work never stops. It was very worthwhile that we could come in with five games to go so we could access everything. The work started from day one and is continuing now to make sure we really make a go of it at the start of the season.

“The most important thing is to bring in players before the first game of the season. Obviously you would prefer to have all your business done before the start of pre-season and that allows them to gel but as I say the most important thing is to have all your targets in for that first game.

“We have been very active looking at targets. They are a lot of players available at the moment but we have to identify players that meet the needs of our club next season and beyond that. We want to bring in players who are the right type, the right character, the right mentality

“I can assure fans that no stone is being left unturned targeting the players that we want in the positions that we want. We will be endeavouring to bring in the best players to Aberdeen Football Club for the start of the campaign.”
