Kenny McLean spoke to the broadcast media after making his Scotland debut in the 1-0 win over Czech Republic.

“It was obviously great to make my debut and especially to do it from the start.

“To get the nod from the start was brilliant.

“It was a bit of surprise to be honest, with the quality that was in the squad, so I am grateful to the manager and it something I will never forget.

“I really enjoyed it. I am just grateful for the opportunity and it makes you hungry for more. I hope it is the first of many more.

“The manager told me to work hard and enjoy it. There was a bit of nerves at the start, when the national anthems were being played.

“It was a different experience to what I have ever had but when the game starts you blank things out and focus on your own game.

“After the first few touches you settle down a bit so the nerves were settled quite early.

“It was always going to be a tough game but the boys dug in and we got the win which was great.

“As I say it was a difficult game but we showed some quality and showed some character. We showed some really quality when we got the goal. Ross does exceptionally well to hold the defender off and slips Ikechi in who finishes in style. The first half was a bit tricky but I thought we played a lot better in the second half. We were able to control the game in parts.

“A few of the Czech boys wanted to swap but obviously being my first game there was no way that was happening!

“There is a bit of a debate with my mum and dad. I got a couple of jerseys so I am sure they will be framed, one for myself and one for them to have up on the wall on the house.

“I am sure they will be happy with that. Obviously it is very special; it is something you dream about.

“Before the game my mum and dad texted me, saying how proud they were and that was great, you just want to make them proud and it is great to know that.

“It is always something I wanted to do and the amount of people who have got in touch through social media has been great, very positive and as I said, it was a very proud moment for myself and my family.”

“When you get a taste, you always want more. I've enjoyed the few days. It's what everybody wants and I hope I can just stay here.

“It is where I want to be.”
