Kenny McLean got back in amongst the goals with number six of the season but at the end of the day it was not enough to get all the points at Hamilton on Sunday. After the game he spoke to RedTV.
“It was a frustrating afternoon. It was disappointing to be heading up the road with only one point and not the three. We know ourselves that we did not do enough to get the three points.
“We were nowhere near our best and we knew we should have done better. It was never going to be easy. We knew the way that we were going to have to play to win this game. Going 1-0 up should have been the start of what we wanted to do. But we did not look as convincing as we should have been.
“Hamilton put us under a lot of pressure. Fair play to them. That is the way they play and they made it difficult for us. In the end we could not argue with a draw and a point for each team.
“You look after yourself first and foremost but when you see the other results the day before you try and capitalise on that but we just could not do that on the day. It is down to ourselves, we have no one else to blame for that. It was just a poor performance.
“It was difficult to say what was missing. You can’t always put your finger on it. You get days like that. We just could not get going.
“Hamilton actually started really well and put us under pressure right away but we got the goal which should have settled us. Hamilton came back into it but these games can be decided by one or two key moment and their keeper pulled off a great save from me just before half time. That could have been a changing moment in the game.
“And as I say Hamilton made it tough, they played well. They use the surface to their advantage. We know you can’t play well every week but they are the type of games that you need to be winning. Those are the game you need to try and grind out results, especially when you go ahead. We were hoping the goal would settle us down a bit. Unfortunately today we just could not do that.
“We were looking for a bit of confidence and to continue the momentum after the Dundee United result. We did not lose the game which was a positive but we go into every game looking to do well and to win the three points. The fans travel in good numbers and they expect that from us. We want to put a smile on their faces but we just did not deliver.
“Right away you look at the next game. It is Ross County at home. We know what happened the last time we played them. It was not good enough also so we need to put that right. We will work hard during the week to try and put things right. The game can’t come quick enough.”
