John McMaster to be inducted into AFC Hall of Fame

Aberdeen Football Club is delighted to announce that John McMaster is to be inducted into the AFC Hall of Fame. John is the latest Gothenburg Great to enter the Hall of Fame, which recognises players and managers who have reached the pinnacle of their profession, making a significant contribution to the reputation of this great Club.

John was signed by manager Jimmy Bonthrone in 1972, but it was Ally MacLeod that gave the midfielder his debut in 1975 and McMaster never looked back. Amassing 315 appearances for Aberdeen, John was an integral part of the most successful era in the Club’s history. There would have been more appearances had it not been for a cruel injury against Liverpool that kept him out for 18 months. John is arguably the greatest Don to never be capped for Scotland. He came back however and was instrumental in helping the Dons win silverware including the European Cup Winners Cup and Super Cup.

McMaster will be the third inductee for the 2017 event, joining former teammate Neale Cooper and former Assistant Manager, Archie Knox. All three inductees will be take part in a Q&A on the evening.

Tickets for this prestigious event on Friday 10th November at the AAM suite at Pittodrie are now available and are priced at £79+ VAT. The event includes a 3-course meal, inductee Q&A and Hall of Fame presentation.
