Joe Lewis spoke to the media after Saturday’s defeat to Ross County at Pittodrie:
“We ended up having 45 minutes to try and salvage something from the season and finish on a positive. The second half wasn’t good enough and it epitomises what has happened previously. Every time it feels like we have had an important game or important moment we have not delivered. You saw their celebrations at the end and the rewards that can be there.
“It is an enormous disappointment in the changing room right now.
“We knew their threats and we didn’t give them anything to go on. I have not seen either penalty incident back, the first one possibly was, the second one isn’t a penalty. That isn’t the deciding factor in our season. What we haven’t done this season is what has cost us at the end of the day. I am not going to point the finger at a refereeing decision to blame that for our season because everyone needs to have a good hard look at themselves.
“We have got a break next weekend. We will have to train hard and try to get this out of our system. It is a really sore one. There is enormous frustration in there, disappointment and anger.
“No matter what we do this season 7th place is the best we can finish and that is not good enough. There is a lot of hard work to be done going forward. The fans have shown up in their numbers and there hasn’t been anything for them to cheer about. We understand their frustration, they are not alone in that. Performances and results is the only way to change that.
“I think the effort was there. The quality needs to be better throughout. I am not going to point the finger at anyone. Everyone at the club can do better and needs to do better and that is what we will work on.”
