After his dramatic deadline day arrival, Jesper Karlsson sat down with RedTV this week to discuss his move to the Dons.

The Swedish winger, who had previously worked with Jimmy Thelin at Elfsborg, spoke about why he decided Aberdeen was the right career move for him, his relationship with the manager and he also spoke about playing with Sivert Heltne Nilsen at Elfsborg as well as former Dons Lewis Ferguson at Bologna and Ylber Ramadani at Lecce.

“I’m not usually the most confident with the attention, I am usually quite relaxed but I am happy that people are happy to have me here. This is something that I feel when I arrived here. The people are so nice and that makes me happy.

“I am excited to get started! I can’t wait until Livingston on Saturday to start with and then it’s just game by game. I just want to get started and play with the team and win some games.

“My message to the fans is it’s time for everybody together to get the first three points of the season on Saturday and then we will have a nice season together. That’s what I hope!

“Lewis (Ferguson) and I have played together now for about two years. I have spoken to him about Aberdeen. Even before this transfer window when I saw the Scottish Cup victory and he knows that I know Jimmy, sometimes we joke about it. He is such an Aberdeen fan also. Every time Aberdeen won he was happy but when it was the bad streak last season he was not too happy but it was nice also to hear from him about the city, the team and everything else!”
