Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin was frustrated that his side didn’t pick up all three points that he felt they deserved against Dundee United.
“I think some things are positive but it doesn’t feel like that now when you don’t get all three points. I am frustrated because we didn’t win the game and also because of how we didn’t win the game. The way we put our crosses and also fight for the ball in the box was not good enough in the first half, I think they get the first touch and most of the balls. But then their goal is really poor and we make it so difficult for ourselves.
“We have to do more work on the training pitch with these crosses and arriving to the box when we play against low blocks and also take more shots. When we have the opportunity, take the opportunity, don’t give it to someone else to take the responsibility.
“It’s this same frustration at home. I think we have done quite good performances in some of the games but we end up behind and then it’s difficult, we have to chase the game every time. We have to do better. It’s an important thing inside football to be really sharp in this moment, they need to do more to hurt us when we have so much control of the game.
“When they play like they did, we have to create more scenarios for a scoring chance and overload some areas better. To be fair to Dundee United, they did the game plan well, they get that goal, they get this belief, they grow and they’re always good in set plays and they do that really well.
“Everybody feels the same feeling right now, it was a game that was important to win because we have three difficult away games now. We talk about before the game that we play at home, we have to take the points and we have to learn from the previous games at home. Noah and St Mirren were quite good games from our side but we don’t get the three points. We must not give the opponent a chance to breathe when we are on top of them.
“We have another chance to prove ourselves on Tuesday, it’s going to be a lot more of these situations against Hibernian, how they play, so it’s another chance for us to prove that we can take the step that we need to do.
“In general we are quite strong away so it’s going to be a different kind of game at Hibs, it’s going to probably be a more open game than today and we are ready for a challenge. When we lose points at home like we did today we have to catch them somewhere else and we have to take some points away now to catch up.”
