Jack Milne was the player who spoke to the press and RedTV to preview the Dons trip to Easter Road on Tuesday. The defender first of all reflected on the Dundee United draw.
“The match was frustrating. We dominated large parts of the game, we got to the final third many times but then did not do enough to create chances and score goals.
“We all need to help provide goals. I come up for corners. We had a lot against Dundee United but were not able to capitalise. You see even the best teams in the world rely on set plays. The amount of times teams go and win a game from a set play, it means it is so important in today’s game.
“And again, the goal we give away is too cheap.
“Some of the goals we have conceded recently, we know it is not good enough. You can understand the frustration from the fans. We are frustrated as well. It is too easy at times for the opposition to score. We have made mistakes, myself included.
“It is something we have to tidy up on if we are going to win games.
“It is so important to try and keep cleansheets.
“We have seen it this season, games we have won 1-0. The United game felt like one of those because they did not create a lot but the goal we concede, it is not good enough.
“I am not sure if it is a concentration thing. It is hard when it feels like you are dominating the game and you want to be on the front foot. Sometimes you get caught out but it is our job as defenders to stay switched on. You have to be ready at all times. It is something we have spoken about.”
The youngster was then asked about the upcoming match and facing his former teammate Jamie McGrath.
“We will have to fully switched on at Easter Road on Tuesday. They are off the back of a great result against Hearts, they will be bouncing. It will be a difficult game. But it will be a more open game which I think will probably suit us. I believe we can go down there and get a positive result.
“Jamie McGrath is a great player. He has been playing really well. He can hurt you. He is very versatile and likes to drift into positions where defenders don’t really want to go. He is a very intelligent player. He is a friend of mine but hopefully we can keep him quiet on Tuesday.
“The result against Hibs at Pittodrie was disappointing but that was two months ago. We have been better since then.
“We want to close the gap. Europe is done now and our full focus is on the league. We have to try rack up the points and move up the table.
“It has been an up and down season so far. We had a poor start, everyone knows that. We were struggling to score goals. we then went on a decent run in the league, got some good results away from home. It is difficult playing two games a week, physically and mentally but we are used to it and I think we will be able to deal with the run of fixtures coming up.”
