Defender Angus MacDonald spoke to the media on Friday morning to preview the Dons cinch Premiership match against Kilmarnock on Saturday.

Firstly, Angus was still claiming he scored the winner last weekend, despite the OPTA stats put the goal down as an OG. “I think it was mine, so I am definitely claiming it! I don’t know about anyone else, but it will go down on my tally for my career! I did not find out it was not my goal till one of the boys told me in the dressing afterwards. Hopefully tomorrow will be the time for one.

“I don’t think there hasn’t been a game that is massive for us since I arrived at the club. Three points is always important for where we need to get too so it is another massive game which will hopefully be in the right direction for us.

“It has definitely been special since I walked through the doors. There is a massive togetherness and we definitely work hard on the training pitch. I can ‘t comment on what happened before because I wasn’t here, but maybe that was what was missing then. But we are working hard and are reaping the rewards of that at the moment.”

“For me personally I can’t get much better at the moment. Things have been going really well. I have really enjoyed the last couple of months, the fans have been fantastic and the results have picked up. That helps. It helps the mood around the place. Barry has come in and done a great job. Everyone is pulling in the same direction. But the job is not done yet, and all eyes are on the game tomorrow to try and get the three points.

“As defenders we thrive off of getting clean sheets. We are obviously not going to score 10-15 goals a season, so for us it is about keeping clean sheets and winning games. I think the confidence is sky-high among our defenders at the moment, as three clean sheets in four games is very good.

“It gives us a great platform to go on. We have come this far and are just a point off third, so if we keep that same focus it will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season.

“We all know the aim for the rest of the season and where we want to get to.”
