“I am delighted with the performance.
“The first goal this evening was really important for us. Dylan Thomas did well to nick the ball to set up Scott Wright. The game was pretty much in the balance up to that point. We know it would be a tough match tonight and up until that point things could have gone either way.
“Then for a fifteen-minute spell in the second half we blew them away with our tempo and our energy. Arron Norris’ goal was an exceptional finish that would have graced any game at any level.
“Then Scott Wright completed his hat-trick which was a major plus point. He took his goals well. It is something we have stressing to Scott; he needs to be producing in the final third more. His pace and ability gets him into good positions and he is now getting better once he gets into these areas which is very encouraging.
“Big Joe then got his goal and it is always good to see your strikers scoring.
“In the end it was a bit frustrating losing the two late goals and having to speak about that in the dressing room afterwards. Apart from that, everything we asked of the players they did. Their game management was excellent.
“That last five minutes was disappointing but at this level that is what happens. They are young players and they have up and down moments during games. It is a learning process that I talk about constantly when I do the post-match RedTV interviews. What is important is that they learn from these mistakes.
“The competition allows a real different focus for us and for the players development. We cannot call upon any over agers, it is just an U20s team. So it would be nice to get a little run in the competition so the players can get experience against good professionals. Formartine had plenty in their team tonight.
“I am sure the draw will give us another different tie but we are looking forward to the next Round.”
