After Thursday’s night’s fantastic victory in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the club have had a number of requests from fans about putting on a charter plane for supporters to Cyprus. Pending the outcome of the Second Qualifying Round against Siroki Brijeg and given the timescales involved, the club had been working with our travel partners ahead of a potential QR3 tie. When it became clear it would likely involve a trip to Larnaca on 2nd or 3rd August possible accommodation and transportation options were investigated in considerable detail, understanding that we could only commit to these once the outcome of the QR2 tie was known. Unfortunately, due to the location of our away QR3 tie the availability of accommodation is such we would only have been able to source a limited number of rooms over a number of hotels, each of differing standards in Larnaca. Further, the sourcing of aircraft was such that the cost of a package would have been exorbitant and would have involved charging supporters an unrealistic price. The package would also have involved a five hour flight plus time to refuel on both legs of the journey and we had no guarantees as to how many supporters would have taken such a package. A one-day package without accommodation was not an option. Having spoken to operators the advice we have received is that supporters should look at options out of Edinburgh and Glasgow as such travel deals including accommodation for four nights would be a far more practical and affordable option. We really appreciate the dedicated support our fans give the team, particularly during our Europa League campaigns, going to great lengths and expense to back Derek and the players.
