The Dons added to their ranks for the second half of the season by taking midfielder Killian Phillips on loan from Crystal Palace for the rest of the campaign over the weekend. When the chance came to come to Aberdeen, he couldn’t wait to grab the opportunity.

The young Irishman told RedTV: “When Aberdeen were mentioned, I spoke to some boys I am friendly with who know about the club. They’ve told me all about it, about the fans and the city, and it was all exciting. I spoke to Jack Grimmer who came through the ranks here and he only had good things to say about the club. He’s doing well in England, I played with him at Wycombe earlier this season, and he’s one of the nicest guys in football. He recommended the club, so that was a good start.

“I’m looking forward to getting going because there’s a lot of big games coming up in the league. I know how big and passionate the fanbase is, so I’m looking forward to getting out at Pittodrie and playing some games.

“I’ve benefited from going out on loan at Shrewsbury and then Wycombe this season, all the players, the staff and the fans were very good to me from the minute I walked in to both clubs, and it already feels the same here.

“I’m comfortable playing anywhere in midfield, whether it’s attacking, holding, but my best position is probably box to box, I can get up and down on the pitch and work hard. I like to get on the ball. I love working hard and I don’t mind a tackle either, so that’s what the fans can expect. I’ve a lot of energy. The fans will get 100% every game and hopefully I can chip in with a few goals.

“I’m hoping I can come in and hit the ground running and we can pick up points and drag us up the table. I’m looking forward to giving my all for the fans.”
