ICT post match | Andrew Considine

Andrew Considine had another outstanding performance this afternoon in defence. After the match he spoke to RedTV: “Today and the Partick game, they were two huge games for us leading into the final. They were games we had to win to set us up for next weekend. “I thought this afternoon we started off really well. Their goal came out of nowhere but that can happen in football. What was very pleasing was the way the boys reacted. All credit to them. We went in at half time 2-1 up and it was fitting that Kenny scored the third to round things off, he played very well.

Andrew Considine had another outstanding performance this afternoon in defence. After the match he spoke to RedTV:

“Today and the Partick game, they were two huge games for us leading into the final.

Until that third goal went in Inverness were still very much in the match and the boys had to keep working hard. They were magnificent throughout.

“The goals were all quality. Kenny’s free kick was superb. Adam’s penalty was very well taken and the third goal was well executed by Jonny and Kenny.

“When we win the ball we are told to give the ball to Jonny or James or Niall. So, when I made that tackle inside our own half I just rolled the ball to Jonny. He then made an incredible run as he must have covered about three quarters of the pitch before being taken down for the penalty.

“I also thought we should have had a penalty or a free kick on the edge of the area in the second half. You could actually hear the clash of boots from where I was standing. James was very unlucky to get a yellow card.”

“Big Joe Lewis was again tremendous. When you are up against a strong physical side it makes such a difference when your keeper comes and deals with the high balls into the area. As a defender, when you are marking at a corner or a free kick, it is such a reassuring feeling when you hear Joe screaming that he coming for the ball. It makes you relax. He has been such an important signing for us.”

Andrew this afternoon made his 365th appearance for Aberdeen. It means this evening he moved up to position number 11 in the all-time AFC appearance list, one ahead of Darren Mackie who is now in 12th spot.

“It is an absolute honour. As a kid I used to come and watch the games at Pittodrie and I always dreamed of walking out of the tunnel in a red shirt. I am very lucky to have done it for a good number of years and clocked up so many appearances. It really does mean a lot.”
