“I am absolutely delighted that the manager stayed. Once the dust had settled it was the outcome that everyone wanted and we are very pleased that he is still here.

“It was a tough week. There is no getting away from that. For everyone involved with the club. It was always going to be that way. “As soon as we heard the news the manager spoke to us and we came back in on the Friday and the whole focus was on trying to get the win that night which we managed to do.

“It is football at the end of the day. As players we could only influence so much. We go to training, do what we need to do to prepare ourselves for a game. We had other things which kept us busy last week such as the hospital visit. I think the way everyone handled themselves was good. Paul and Barry deserve a lot of credit. Once the news came through then it was a case of trying to get things back to normal as quickly as we could for the game and the win was very welcomed at the end.

“It was one of those games we just needed to win.

“We got beat 3-0 at Motherwell in the League Cup and we had that game on the Sunday in the League at Fir Park and that was a similar situation. It does not matter how you play, we fight, we scrap, we battle like we did not do the week before and we win at all costs. We did that. The Motherwell game was a scrappy game but the Dundee performance was actually better and quite a good game. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the way we played. The way we passed it and moved it and we could have got another couple of goals. I thought we thoroughly deserved the win and it was a nice feeling at the end of the week we had.

“I was really pleased to win for the supporters. The fans were brilliant on Friday and the backing they gave us was really appreciated by all the boys in the dressing room.

“We have been on a sticky run of late. We have had some good results and obviously some bad ones. In this league you need to string a few results together. There are a lot of games coming up, some big games, tough games coming up so it is important to try and focus on the next one which is at Perth on Wednesday and try to keep putting points and wins on the board as much as we can.

“Things are back to normally this week. That is football. You go from one minute thinking you are going to lose the manager and not knowing what is going to happen to everything being back to normal. After the win spirits are all high again and the confidence is back. It was a happy place to come into this morning.”
