Sam Cosgrove on Thursday night will try and equal a Dons European record.
Eoin Jess was the last player to score in three successive European games back in 1993.
He scored twice in each leg v Valur then got one in the away leg against Torino. But Drew Jarvie has scored in four successive ties – the only Dons player to have done so.
“It is good to be up and running already this season.
“It took what felt like a lifetime to get my first Aberdeen goal. This season I got a goal in the pre-season game at Peterhead which allows helps and then to score in my first competitive game this season, it really was a confidence booster. That is all I can ask for from the three games. I will be critical of myself and say that I should have had Z, Y, Z number of goals throughout the course of the Round One two legged tie, but to come away with three goals in three games is a solid start and will put me in good stead for the season ahead.
“The goal in Finland was the first penalty since the end of last season when I missed at Easter Road from the spot. In the grand scheme of things that penalty did not really matter against Hibs but this was my first one since then so that was playing on my mind a little bit.
“Last season was my first European experience against Burnley which was an unbelievable experience. That game away at Burnley was one of the best days of my life, and up there with one of my best days in football. I was only 50 miles from home and all my family came to watch it. We had an unbelievable support and it was an unbelievable game. We were very unlucky not to get through in the end.
“There is defiantly something special about the European night. Everyone at the club seems to thrive off them.
“What was the manager says to the press is exactly the same as what he says to the players. It is massively important for us, the staff and the club and the fans that we get through as far as we can in Europe and get as many games as we can.”
Plus: The first captain’s column from Joe Lewis, Dean Campbell interview, in-depth feature with Andrew Considine and we also look back at his Dad’s two European appearances in 1979. There are a number of former player interview’s including one with the excellent Nicky Weaver who amongst other things tells us what it was like to play with Georgi Kinkladze at Manchester City during the 90s – the same decade this week’s brilliant Dolly Digital cover is inspired from.
