Easter Road Post Match | Adam Rooney

Adam Rooney “As expected it was a difficult game. The last time we played them was in the semi-final of the cup and they made it very difficult for us that day. They are a strong team and have made a good start to the season. So we knew it would be difficult but we had a belief that we could come here and win the game. “Thankfully another clean sheet and a great goal has led to the win. “The goal was a brilliant move. It was a good ball in by Kari to Stevie. Kenny tool it off him and played a great ball. It is then a great finish by Gary.

“The goal was a brilliant move. It was a good ball in by Kari to Stevie. Kenny tool it off him and played a great ball. It is then a great finish by Gary. I was looking for the cut back but he would not pass it to me! A brilliant goal that deserved to win the game.

“It was a very good defensive performance. The last few games we have looked more solid as a team. That is three clean sheets in a row. We take great confidence from the clean sheets. Hopefully we can keep doing that.

“We will not be sitting back and relaxing now. We will be working hard on the training ground. We do have a break but we have just come back from an international break so ideally we would have had a game at the weekend.

“A top of the table clash, we are looking forward to it.

“Ireland are in the play-offs next month. It would be nice to hit a bit of form to put myself in contention for that. that only comes though as a consequence of playing well for your club so hopefully I can keep doing well for Aberdeen.”
