Lewis Mayo has agreed a three-year deal to join Aberdeen when his current contract expires this summer.
The 26-year-old centre-back, who most recently played for Kilmarnock FC, will officially become a Dons player ahead of the 2026/27 season, adding leadership and versatility to the Club’s defensive unit.
Lewis, who established himself as one of the Scottish Premiership’s most consistent defenders during his time at Rugby Park, is known for his strong defensive instincts and significant pace, and had been a key figure in Kilmarnock’s backline.
“I’m very happy to be here and can’t wait to get started”, said Lewis.
“I know the manager is ambitious, as is everyone at the Club. When I spoke to the manager, I got a real good feel of what his plans are. There are clear plans in place here for how we can progress and I want to be a part of that.
“I am a versatile defender, these last few years I have played right across a back four and a back three, so I have experience of playing different positions which is something the manager recognises.
“There is always a great crowd and atmosphere at Pittodrie, and I’m looking forward to experiencing that as a home player.
“I am excited to get to work, and I am hopeful it is going to be a good season for us. Alongside the fans I’m sure we can have a really good time together.”
Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson welcomed his first summer signing, saying:
"Lewis is a player we’ve admired for some time.
“He has shown real consistency and leadership qualities in this league, and he fits the profile of player we are looking to bring to the Club as we continue to build a competitive squad."
“We’re sure his experience and professionalism with be a great asset to the Club both on and off the pitch.”
Everyone at Aberdeen FC looks forward to welcoming Lewis to Pittodrie this summer.
