update from training camp
The players spent their last day in Dublin at their pre-season training camp. New signing Aston Taylor and skipper Russell Anderson have both trained the past few days. The squad will now head back to Scotland on Tuesday morning before the match against Brechin on Wednesday night.
Derek McInnes spoke to RedWeb at lunchtime:
“Ashton Taylor came in yesterday and we accessed his fitness straight away. He has done well in the sessions he has taken part in. He knows a few of the lads from before and he has mixed well with everyone else. It can sometimes be quite daunting coming into a new club and meeting everyone, especially a new team from a different country. He is inching to get going and to play his part. I can confirm he will play part of the game against Brechin.
“Sometimes when you go away pre-season the last couple of days can drag on but I don’t feel that is the case over here. We have got a lot from it. We have come through the game without any injuries and we came out here with more injuries than we are going back with is always pleasing as well. The players will take confidence from the work they have done. They can be pleased with their efforts. It was also important for the boys to be around each other again and to integrate the new players.
“The spirit amongst the squad this week has been very good. It is something we think is important and something we work on because a good spirit can get you through difficult times.
“We are pleased where we are at the moment. Now we move onto the next stage of pre-season.”
