Aberdeen returned to the Balmoral on Sunday against a Hearts side who are holding their own at the top of the SWPL 1 table.

Two former Dons started for the visitors today, with Bayley Hutchison getting the first opportunity of the game eight minutes in.

Sidey dived low to prevent Hutchison’s goal-scoring opportunity, with Jameison doing well to block the rebound.

In the 16th minute Hearts grabbed the opening goal, with the wind playing a massive part.

A cross from the right floated to the feet of Jackie Richards who tapped the ball through Sidey’s legs for 1-0.

Ten minutes later, Hearts doubled their lead.

Richards whipped the ball in from the edge of the box, finding the head of Georgia Timms who left Sidey with no chance in keeping the ball out.

Hearts had the ball in the net 37 minutes in after the ball bounced off the crossbar, but the striker was judged to have been in an offside position.

Megan Sidey was forced to come off the park at the end of the first half due to a collision during the attack.

Eilidh Shore nearly grabbed a goal against her former side in the 57th minute, deciding to test McCann from range. Her shot bounced off the crossbar.

Aberdeen were close to grabbing a goal back in the 68th minute when Jo Fraser pinched the ball in the box. McEvoy hit the ball straight at the keeper, with Kraft on hand to shoot a rebound.

Her shot was unfortunately blocked off the line by a defender.

Aberdeen continued to battle in the final stages of the second half but just could not find their way to goal.

Scott Booth’s side welcome Gartcairn on Sunday December 8 in the third round of the Scottish Cup.
