Aberdeen Football Club is delighted to announce that the Club has entered into a strategic partnership with Norwegian energy firm Statoil to further enhance the work being undertaken at the Club across its Youth Development programmes.
Statoil is to be the exclusive ‘Talent Partner’ of Aberdeen Football Club with the emphasis specifically on the future development of elite youth players through the AFC Junior and Youth Academy.
Gunnar Breivik, managing director Statoil Production U.K. Limited said, “We are pleased to enter this new partnership with Aberdeen Football Club as we recognise the importance of developing and inspiring the next generation of home-grown talent. The Club has ambitious plans for the AFC Youth Academy and Statoil is proud to play a supporting role as Talent Partner.”
Commenting on the partnership, Vice Chairman George Yule added “This Club is totally focussed on delivering quality across every area of our business, and our partnership with Statoil will significantly enhance our ability to develop elite junior and youth players (and their coaches) via a range of technical and fitness programmes aimed at providing opportunities for talented young football players from the Aberdeen area and the NE of Scotland to follow in the footsteps of Russell Anderson, Ryan Jack, Andrew Considine and many others who’ve come through the AFC Academy into the 1st team.

Statoil is an international energy company with operations in 36 countries. Statoil’s Mariner project is the largest new offshore development in the UK in more than a decade and the field is expected to produce for at least 30 years. Statoil Aberdeen currently employs around 120 people and plans to recruit additional staff in 2015. The company recently saw construction start on its new UK North Sea headquarters at the Prime Four business park at Kingswells.
