Mark Reynolds on REDTV

Mark Reynolds spoke to REDTV on Thursday to preview the weekend match against Dundee United “If we want to be successful as we were last season or even eclipse that, then every game is going to be massive. Teams will now start to break away and you pretty much need to win every game to keep up. Every three points becomes massive so when you play the teams round about you the game takes on greater significance. “I know the fans look forward to the game and so do all the players. It is a great fixture to play in as well as to watch. “We are still a work in progress.

“If we want to be successful as we were last season or even eclipse that, then every game is going to be massive.

We have a lot of good players though who are putting in good performances and the last few weeks we have been creating a lot of chances. Against Hamilton we put those chances away.

“The manager always hammers home to us that we cannot just turn up and expect to get those goals. To get the level of performance required we have to go and outwork and out fight the opposition. Over the 90 minutes we have to be the hungrier team.

“United are a good side. They like to pop the ball about and over the last few years they have forward players who have good movement. They always have players who can score goals and they are good going forward. Our defence will have to play well.

“Ashton and myself are forming a good partnership at the back. It is nice playing next to a guy who is going to be physical. He is still relatively young, this is his first season up here so he is doing very well. Last week epitomised the centre half he is turning into. He is strong and dominating in the air, he got the ball down and played some great passes and he was very comfortable stepping forward into the midfield. He also scored a good goal from a set piece. I am quite happy letting him win the headers and I will sweep up behind him!

“It does take a while to get used to playing beside someone. You also have Scott Brown coming in as well which changes the dynamics. When Russell and I were playing it was just something you take for granted. Ash and I are getting to stage now where we are building up that kind of relationship where you can second guess what each other are going to do before you actually do it. That helps inspire better performances.”
