German goalkeeper Daniel Klein has joined The Dons on a two-year contract.

The 25-year-old arrives at Pittodrie having left Bundesliga side FC Augsburg in the summer and brings with him valuable experience from Germany, adding further depth to the Club's goalkeeping department.

“Daniel is a goalkeeper who has already shown strong qualities in his game but retains excellent future potential”, said Dons boss Stephen Robinson.

"He joined us on trial last week on and his desire to impress was clear. At his age, there's still plenty of room for development and we're confident Aberdeen is the right environment for him to continue progressing.

“He is a strong goalkeeper, and he'll add real depth to our goalkeeping group.

“We look forward to helping him continue his progress while contributing to the team."

Daniel, who came through the ranks at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, has played for his country at all levels up to Under 19s and is familiar with Dons Sporting Director, Lutz Pfannenstiel after their paths crossed at Hoffenheim.

Having spent time at Cormack Park last week, Daniel was delighted starting this new chapter of his career in the North-east.

He said: “I am really happy to be joining Aberdeen. I had a good trial here last week. The team and the staff were very welcoming, it felt like a big family.

“Training was a good standard, and I enjoyed working with Hinchy, the goalkeeping coach and the other keepers. I am looking forward to pushing Marius every day in training.

“It’s the right time to try something new, both professionally and personal. This is going to be a good challenge for me and when the team need me, I will be fully focussed and ready to play.”
