“We asked the players to treat the game properly, to try and get as many points as possible.

“That was the last motivation of the season. We qualified for Europe plenty of weeks ago, we got second spot a couple of weeks ago, we fell out of the title race a couple of weeks ago.

“The last thing was to try and beat last season’s tally and it’s always been quite important to us.

“I’ve always said privately to the players that it was something to work towards and see where it takes us so we’re disappointed.

“I thought the first half performance, the players demonstrated that eagerness to win the game, I thought we were the better team.

“I thought we kept Hearts in their own half, we kept them at arm’s length. I thought there was good concentration to our play, good tempo.

“I think we lacked a number 9’s movement in many areas. That natural number 9 may have helped us to possibly score first.

“We asked for more of the same in the second half, and while we didn’t have the same rhythm and pace to the game at least we tried to move the ball about.

“It was a poor goal to lose.

“We know Ozturk has hit a good strike but the goalkeeper should do better. Ultimately it’s a scrappy goal to separate the teams and it gave Hearts a lift because they had something to hold on to after that.

“We huffed and puffed after that, I thought we got into good areas but our final cross and final pass in the final third – we expect better and we normally do get better.

“It’s disappointing, I feel we should be coming away with at least a 0-0.”
