Dons boss Derek McInnes discusses today’s fixture announcement:
“It’s difficult start, I think there are some more difficult away fixtures than others and you would have to put St. Johnstone in that category. They are a team who make it tough for their opponents as we found that out last season, but as soon as you get the fixtures out you start to picture that opening day and we will look forward to it. It’s not too far away for the fans to travel. We always take a huge travelling crowd to St. Johnstone and I am sure there will be even more on the opening day of the season.
“We feel quite proud of ourselves in the fact that we’ve managed to put in an authentic challenge over the last couple of years.
“People will dismiss ourselves, Hearts and others and think that it will just be Celtic and Rangers competing again, that seems to be the tone, but it is up to us and others to prove otherwise and what we will look to do is make sure we are happy with our efforts, like we have been of late and we are confident we can have a good season in all competitions.”
