The game itself was not very memorable but the past 24 months certainly have been for everyone connected with Aberdeen Football Club.

In an exclusive interview the Dons boss spoke to REDTV:

“The two years have flown in. It has been great, I have really enjoyed it. I have enjoyed watching the team and enjoyed what the players give me every time they play a game and every day in training.

“Over the two years there have been a lot of changes. When I arrived two years ago it was a case of quickly assessing the squad and staff and seeing where we were. There were a lot of players out of contract. Although there are still some players playing who were here before I arrived there has been a lot of changes in personnel.

“We tried to get more pace and energy and also get a better all-round squad in terms of versatility. I think we have managed to do that.

“We wanted Pittodrie to be a place on a Saturday where people wanted to come not just through loyalty but because they had fallen in love with the club again and looked forward to coming to the games. We have all got that anticipation on a Saturday. I have that anticipation of looking forward to watching my team and it is important the supporters have that.

“It is for us to utilise Aberdeen and for the club to be the size of club it can be. We have got to make sure we have a team who can match up to that. We have that reputation as a club but it is important you have a team to go with it. And I think we have that now. We have a team with real energy and pace but we also have an edge to us as well. Nobody is going to get an easy game against us.”
