Club Statement | Player Contracts Update

Aberdeen Football Club can this afternoon announce the following players will be leaving Pittodrie as their contracts come to a conclusion.

Joe Shaughnessy, Clark Robertson, Craig Murray, Kieran Gibbons, Jamie Masson and Andrew Driver will all be moving on. Donervorn Daniels will return to his parent club West Bromwich Albion.

As revealed at the Player of the Year Dinner, Russell Anderson will be retiring but will be taking up a full time role ‘behind the scenes’ at the Club.

Barry Robson has been offered a new deal by the Dons. Goalkeeper Danny Rogers, who spent the majority of the season on loan at Championship side Dumbarton, has put pen to paper on a new deal. Michael Rose, Lukas Culjak, Robbie Mutch and Craig Storie, who recently lifted the Development League trophy with their U20s team mates, join Danny in signing new contracts with the club.

Declan McManus was offered a contract by the club but has rejected this in favour of securing a deal elsewhere.

Under 20 squad members Cem Felek, Richie Petrie and Michael Jones will be leaving the club, while team-mate Marcus Campanile has opted to move to America on a football scholarship.

Commenting on the squad changes, manager Derek McInnes said. “I wish all the players leaving us success in the future and thank them for their hard work and endeavour while at the Club, from the youngest Kieron Gibbons, to Russell, who we know will be remaining with the Club in a corporate role.

“Declan has decided his future lies elsewhere and we wish him all the best in his future career. We want to continue to work with players committed to Aberdeen.”
