Season 2013/14
AFC in the Community is offering local charities and community groups the opportunity to apply for Match Day Can Collections during next season. Previous can collections have been predominately allocated to larger and national charities, however for the 2013/14 season AFC in the Community would like to support local 3rd sector charitable organisations and community groups within the North East of Scotland by offering the chance to collect donations from fans at Pittodrie.
AFC will try to accommodate as many applications as possible but in the likelihood of being over-subscribed a ballot will be carried out. To ensure fairness, a representative from AFC in the Community will draw lots to decide the allocation of match day collections. All successful applicants will be informed in writing and advised which match they have been allocated. The allocation of match day collections to applicants will also be identified on the AFC website at the appropriate time.
“You have to be in it to win it”, therefore all local 3rd sector charities and community groups are invited to apply in writing to Reception, Aberdeen Football Club plc, Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen, AB24 5QH, or by email to [email protected].
Wherever possible, requests in writing should be on headed charity/community group paper or, when sent by email, provided together with similar supporting information to confirm authenticity.
The deadline for applications is 24th May 2013.
On this occasion it is requested that no sports clubs apply as AFC in the Community is focussing on supporting 3rd sector local charities and community groups.
Head of AFC in the Community Ally Prockter is pleased to introduce this initiative stating, “This is a great way for Aberdeen Football Club to demonstrate our commitment to local supporters. AFC will of course continue to support national and larger charities, but this idea highlights the importance being placed on assisting locally based communities who need some help in raising funds and raising awareness of their cause. Aberdeen supporters have shown themselves to be very generous in the past and I am sure will continue to be so when helping others from our local area.”
