“It has been great, really enjoyable and good that the fans turned out. It’s incredible for the young boys to get a trophy at the end of a long hard campaign, its credit for what they have done throughout the season.

“If I am being a wee bit picky, I have seen us play better but I am glad to see it out with a win in front of a really good healthy crowd at Pittodrie. I would like to thank everyone who turned up. “Since I have come in the boys have been excellent, that’s the young boys and the first team players who have come in to help them too. I couldn’t have asked for anymore, they have been a credit to themselves and the football club.

“We do say that it is not all about the silverware and that it is about developing footballers but when you get the chance you want to take it and they have showed a real winning mentality to get through and finish the league campaign like this.”

Kieran Gibbons

“It’s a great feeling but even better after winning the game. That was the thing that we had to do first and foremost. It’s brilliant that the crowd turned up as well, that’s given the boys a real lift.

“We have to thank the groundstaff for making the pitch available for us and also the people behind the scenes that have fought hard to get the pitch for today because the first team have still got games to play. Lifting that cup here tonight is an occasion I will never forget.”

Nicky Low

“It’s a special moment, I signed here when I was just 16 and I played for the U20s in most of those seasons, I must have played around 200 games! So to win a trophy with the U20s I am delighted, it was very special doing it in front of the fans tonight.

“I will leave Aberdeen with a heavy heart but I can say I have left with two medals. I said before the game to the lads that it might be my last game at Pittodrie so I am just thankful that I scored and played a part in the game.”

Cammy Smith

“It’s good to win the cup here at Pittodrie although it wasn’t the best of games! It’s my last year in the youth team and I couldn’t have asked to round it off in a better way. The core of the squad has been great and every game has mattered, we have picked up points all around the country and they have all been vital. “To get a crowd like this tonight was great for the young boys and hopefully it is just the start for them too, it’s about producing players for the first team and hopefully some of us that played tonight can get in the first team now.”

Lawrence Shankland

“To win a league at any level is different class and the group of boys have been brilliant. It’s been a great season scoring goals and I have really enjoyed it. There was a great support tonight, loads of fans turned up to see us and that is a reflection on how well the squad have done and also how well the coaches have done with the players this season.”
