Barry Robson spoke to RedTV on Wednesday night after impressing during his first start of the season:
“It was a big game for us.
“Dundee United is always a hard game, it is always a difficult place to come.
“There is always a good atmosphere due to the great turnout from the Aberdeen fans.
“We did not have our best result at the weekend so it was a big game all round on Wednesday night and I think the boys showed great character to come back and win.
“I enjoyed playing but it is not about me. The most important thing was getting the points. I don’t care who is playing, it is a squad game. I realise that more than anyone. The manager makes changes for various reasons, to freshen things up, to play against a different style; thankfully I got a shout so I had to make sure I came in and did a job for the team because they have been doing it all season. I have to stand up and be counted as well.
“It is all hands to the pump at this stage of the season and I think you seen that against Dundee United.
“I think it was a game where we could have scored more. The thing that pleased me the most was the mentality of the boys. We had that strength that we were not going to lose and that is something we need to take into every single game between now and the end of the season.
“Everyone played their part. Everyone. Even the substitutes when they came on. I thought Willo was superb when he came on. He got us up the pitch and did a couple of jinks and got taken out!
“It is a squad game.
“Scott Brown has been terrific since he came back into the side. All over the pitch people are doing a job for the team and you have Jonny Hayes coming back. He is a massive player for us. It will be exciting to get him back in the side.
“There is a lot to look forward to.
“The pitches are not great at this stage of the season, things are going to be hard, boys are maybe a little bit tired but personally I think we are one of the fittest and quickest teams in the league and this is the time to show it.
“We have ten games to go, hard games, games that we can win but you just take it one game at a time. I have been in this situation before. I do not even look at the league table and worry about the point’s difference. All I know is that we are close and we have to take three points from the next game and then the game after that. That is the only way you can do it.
“Of course you would rather be playing that sitting on the sidelines. I had a little injury there and it took me a while to get back. The manager knows me well and he did not think I was ready. He did not think I was training well enough because I was maybe feeling it a bit. He felt recently I was looking a lot sharper. The manager is watching me every day. He knows when I am ready to play and when I am not ready to play. I just work hard with the boys and when I am called upon I need to do the business.”
