Aberdeen boss Barry Robson cut a frustrated figure following the late postponement of the game against Dundee at Dens Park today.

“When we first got to the ground and had a look at the pitch, it didn’t look great and then as we came off to go back in the dressing room, the rain started to come. The referee was out there for 20 minutes and eventually called the game off on the grounds of player welfare and as much as we wanted to play, you have to take that seriously.

“It’s a real shame for the supporters, I’m gutted for them, because they’ve gone down to Dundee on the Saturday before Christmas when they’ll be wanting time at home, time with their families, and they’ve had an expensive journey down here for nothing.

“The frustration for us is that we were looking to get a third league win in a row and to start to build some momentum, but it’s yet another game called off for us that we’ll have to catch up on next year.

“There’s nothing positive to take from the day, we’ve prepared well, we’re buzzing to be here, really looking forward to the game off the back of a win on Wednesday and we’re looking to claw some points back on teams above us.

“Instead we’ll have to wait for the Motherwell game now next Wednesday. We had a good result against them earlier in the season, played well, and we will need to do that again. It’s going to be hard to train much back in Aberdeen over the next couple of days because of the weather, but we’ll handle that.

“Given that we’ve had the busiest schedule of most of the league, maybe the extra break from today will help us a wee bit.”
