Barry Robson spoke to the media on Friday lunchtime to preview Saturday’s trip to Ibrox. RedTV subscribers can watch the press conference in full through the video above.
“Team news for this week we are are fine apart from Shayden Morris & Jimmy McGarry who will probably be out for six to eight weeks. Those two have got real speed in the team so we miss them which is unfortunate. We just have to work with them and get them back as soon as we can.
“The season has been a bit up and down for us. I think now we’ve started to move and started to motor a wee bit now and the last week that we’ve had has been really productive. Although we never won over in Germany, it was still a very, very good performance. We are actually picking up some points in the league and we’ve got ourselves a trip to Hampden. We are in a place where we’re moving in the right direction.
“I think Rangers are a really good side and I think they have had a big turnover of players there as well which is never easy. It’s obviously a demanding club like we have here so I don’t see this as getting Rangers at an easy time or anything like that. All we’ve tried to do is focus on what we can do in the game and we’ve worked today, which was the only day we really could work for the game tomorrow. We’ve just tried to do what we’re good at and try and improve a couple of things. So that’s what we are looking to do.
“We fought so hard last season to get to into this position. Now would we like less games going into some games, yes. I think because it’s players and it’s injuries and it does catch up with teams as you’ve seen, probably with Hearts last year it was very difficult for them. You saw West Ham, David Moyes is a really experienced manager but they struggled a bit with the European stuff. I think it is a wee bit different maybe for your big teams like Manchester City because they have probably got bigger squads to deal with that. What I say to the players is we’ve got a tight squad here and we’re all in it fighting and we enjoy it and we want to play games. We’re trying to be positive with it because it is a positive and we’ve got a real chance. We are in a semi-final again, we’ve got European league football which is brilliant for the club and you can see the fans excitement. It’s not ideal the amount of games we play but this is where we want to be so we’ve got to be positive and go enjoy and we’ve got to try and perform well in it.”
