AFCCT Soccer School 2015 got underway on Monday 6th July at Balgownie with lots of young kids getting to enjoy some fun filled football activity with our coaching team.
On Tuesday the Aberdeen FC first team squad made an appearance at Balgownie and RedTV were on hand to grab a few words with Senior SFA Community Coach Steven Sweeney.
Steven said, “We have got over 190 children here this week for the first week of our Soccer School. I am delighted to see so many children here from our different programmes returning again whether they are from our Football Centres, Primary Schools League or from some of the clubs that we work with at grassroots level.
“It’s great to see so many familiar faces. There is a focus on fun and enjoyment through football so there are lots of small sided games, skills practices and fun activities to take part in and we were fortunate enough to have the first team players come over to see the children there which was great.
“I came up to aberdeen in March 2013 just before the current management team took over and during that summer there was still a lot of different football tops from different parts of the country but now when you come along it is red everywhere and the new away kit seems to be popular so it’s great to see local supporters here.”
Unfortunately the fine weather did not last and Balgownie was declared unplayable on Tuesday evening. To find out about the alternative arrangements click here
