Aberdeen FC is proud to be a thriving, community driven football club who aim to have a positive impact far beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch
. We recognise our unique standing in the local community and appreciate the importance of giving something back as we actively engage with the local communities that support and sustain the club.
Here is a small taster of the recent activity that various representatives of the football club have undertaken this past while in our efforts to interact with our local community.
Dons captain, Russell Anderson led his team-mates on their annual festive tour of Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital as they took time out of their training schedule to deliver some Christmas cheer to the sick kids of the North East.
It was smiles all round as Russell, joined by Mark Reynolds, Andy Considine, Jamie Langfield, Scott Vernon, Barry Robson, Ryan Jack, Peter Pawlett, Jonny Hayes, Michael Hector and Nicky Low toured the wards handing out sackfuls of AFC gifts to the brave youngsters and their families.
Andrew Considine and Clark Robertson visited the Winter Football Festival, a coaching programme organised by AFC in the Community. The players met the kids and signed some autographs.
Angus the Bull held his Christmas Party for members of his Angus the Bull Club. Santa came along to see the kids and there were party games and music as well as face painters, balloon modellers and a magician to entertain the kids.
AFC recently created a special shirt to donate to one of our special fans. We put a poppy from the Remembrance Day game on a white shirt and sent it to Corporal Ewan Howieson who is a Corporal in the Royal Air Force Police and is normally based at RAF Lossiemouth in Moray, but is currently serving in the Middle East. Our thoughts are with all the Dons fans who are in the Armed Services posted around the world.
